Is this the next ‘Big Thing’ in cell phones?

Author: Adam  //  Category: Gadgets

Sony Ericsson announced early February, their newest addition to their cellphone lineup, the Xperia X1. The X1 is set to rival Apple’s iPhone in features and, most likely, price.

The Xperia is Sony Ericsson’s first Smart Phone to use Windows Mobile software, instead of the Symbian OS, featured in their previous Smart Phones.

The X1 boasts a 3-inch high-resolution VGA display, and full QWERTY keyboard, encased in a metal-finish body.

The visual interface of Sony’s new phone is unique to the X1, using a system of Xperia panels to utilize the phone’s features. The Xperia panels give the user access to the Web, Multimedia, and Applications, and can be arranged to suit his/her preference.

Unlike Apple’s iPhone ,which is navigated via the touch screen alone, the Xperia can be operated in four different ways. The user is able to seamlessly switch between the touch screen capability, full QWERTY keyboard, an optical joystick, and 4-way key.

As far as accessing the internet is concerned, the Xperia has both Wi-Fi, and mobile web capabilities.

There has been no date set yet as for it’s release, but the Xperia will be part of AT&T’s new lineup mid 2008.

Wipeout HD coming to the Playstation 3

Author: Adam  //  Category: Video Games

Sony has announced the revival of its futuristic racing series, Wipeout, with the upcoming Wipeout HD. Wipeout HD is pretty much the same Wipeout Pulse, just re-finished for the PS3. It brings back photo mode to capture images of the game and save them to the PS3’s hard drive.

The music isn’t new for HD, the tracks are imported from previous Wipeout games.

Possibly one of the most fun, and maybe most annoying new features for HD will be the ability to control your vehicle using the Sixaxis feature. Not sure if that will be and advantage or disadvantage over the traditional controls.

As of this moment, a release date for Wipeout HD has not yet been determined.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

Author: Adam  //  Category: Video Games

There’s a new addition to the Final Fantasy VII lineup, Crisis Core. Crisis core is a prequel to Final Fantasy VII. Set in the mako city of Midgar, you play as Zack Fair, a soldier of the Shinra Corporation.

Battle for the newest in the series is real time and uses a new system called Digital Mind Wave, (DMW), where three spinning reels sit at the upper left-hand corner of the screen. Once the three are aligned you give your character a power surge.

As is usual, the makers of the game, Square Enix, have stayed loyal to the Sony brand, launching it not on the Playstation 2 or 3, but on the PSP system instead.

Crisis core has been getting rave reviews from the gaming community since its release in March, by critics and players alike.

Grand Theft Auto 4 (IV) Coming to Xbox 360 and PS3!

Author: Adam  //  Category: Video Games

Rockstar Games is releasing their newest installment of the Grand Theft Auto series this April. As would be expected, it will be released on both the Xbox 360, and Playstation 3.

From Wikipedia.org: “Nikolai “Niko” Bellic is Eastern European, between 28 and 32 years of age and has come to Liberty City to pursue the “American Dream“. Niko was persuaded to move to Liberty City by his cousin Roman, who claimed in multiple e-mails to Niko that he was living a fabulous life, with a mansion, women, hot tubs and sports cars. Roman’s claims turn out to be lies to hide his own failures, however, and in reality he only owns a small taxi business, which he wants Niko to work for.
Roman is the only person Niko knows in Liberty City to begin with, and is one of his major connections in the first part of the game. Niko is a tough character, whereas Roman is friendly. Roman is heavily in debt and a lot of people are after him. He desperately needs Niko’s support, hence the reason he deceived Niko into travelling to Liberty City. They are constantly bickering. It is later revealed that Niko has also been avoiding other, as yet undisclosed, problems at home.”

Though the gameplay stays very much the same as the rest of the series, the graphics have been vastly upgraded for the next-gen Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. The maps are slightly smaller than “San Andreas”, but are much more detailed, as well as having much more detailed and updated character models.

Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto 4 (IV) will be released April 29, 2008 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The Special Edition of Grand Theft Auto 4 will be released October 2008.

Apple’s new MacBook Air is thin on features…

Author: Adam  //  Category: Computers

The new Macbook Air proves to be just a neat-looking novelty.Apple unveiled its newest laptop January of 2008, which happens to be the thinnest laptop on the market today. Yet some people are on the edge about having to choose style over functionality.

Possibly one of the biggest compromises of the MacBook Air, is its lack of a CD or DVD drive. One is available for purchase at Apple’s website or any Apple store, but is not included in the base price.
