PSP-3000 Confirmed

Author: Adam  //  Category: Video Games

PSP-3000 It wasn’t very long ago when Sony announced the PSP Slim. Now… they’re giving us the PSP-3000. The newest version of Sony’s handheld system was announced at this year’s Leipzig Games Convention, and features an upgraded screen that produces better color and will reduce glare, as well as a built-in microphone to make free calls using Skype. Now don’t go thinkin’ that this new PSP is gonna replace your cell anytime soon, you still need to be in range of a WiFi network to make any calls.

These new features don’t add any bulk to the PSP-3000 which is the same size as the PSP Slim, which is good news. It’s not a major upgrade, but if you were on the edge about whether to purchase a PSP or upgrade to a newer version, this may or may not be the incentive to buy.

The PSP-3000 will be released as a stand-alone system, and in a 4GB bundle, as well as various entertainment packs, retailing for $169.99 and $199.99 respectively.

I have yet to hear an official release date for North America, but this upgraded PSP will be available in Europe October 15th for 199 Euros… thats a diarrhea-inducing $291.67!

Check back, as I will post any updates as I hear about them…

Siren: Blood Curse for the PS 3

Author: Adam  //  Category: Video Games

4 Paws
The Siren series is back with Blood Curse on the Playstation 3. Set in the original village of Hanuda, an American T.V. crew stumbles across a town full of Shibito, corpse people. With a strong storyline, a total of seven different playable characters, and an ambience that will chill the white right out ‘cha bones, Blood Curse will keep most players enthralled the whole way through.

Though the graphics aren’t BAD, for a brand new next-gen game, they could stand to be a little better. Clunky controls don’t help the situation much either.

Sightjacking adds a whole new layer to this game that allows for much-needed stealth when the time calls for it. Sightjacking is the ability to see yourself or anything else from the perspective of someone near you. When sightjacking is activated, the screen splits in two, displaying what you are looking at, as well as the third-person perspective of whoever you sight-jacked.

Though graphics, and controls may not be its strongest assets, Siren really shines when it comes to its storyline, and gameplay. Gamespot had this to say regarding the gameplay aspect:

Siren: Blood Curse’s episodic structure also keeps things engaging. The game is divided into twelve TV-style episodes, and each comes complete with a quick recap at the beginning and a preview of the next episode at the end. Each episode, in turn, is divided into chapters. No single chapter is very long, so you’re constantly jumping from one character to another and from one gameplay style to another. In one chapter you may be alone, armed, and able to handle yourself in a fight, while in the next you may have to escort another character to safety, or avoid contact with the enemy altogether. Stealth and escort missions are elements that could quickly drag a game down, but by constantly changing things up, Blood Curse keeps things moving at a steady clip.

Siren: Blood Curse is available for download on the Playstation Network.

EA will be releasing Mafia 2 as planned

Author: Adam  //  Category: Video Games

When Mafia 2’s production was announced, there was a lot of skepticism as to whether or not it would actually be released. Due to its close symmetry to the EA’s Godfather series, Mafia 2 had a good chance of being put on halt. 2K Games did in fact announce that Mafia 2 will continue as planned, being released for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS 3. As of now no release date has been set.

I haven’t been able to get much information on the game itself yet, but I did come across the official trailer for the game, and a few screenshots from Gamespot.com, so y’all can see what’s been released thus far.

Here’s hoping Mafia 2 doesn’t turn into a GTA rip-off…

Scary world-dominators…

After its release date, spore will be available for the PC, Mac, Wii, and DS.

Not only will you have fun beating up your opponent, but you will also be able to see the fruits of your labor “all up in his face”. I haven’t been able to round up much information for you, loyal viewers, but I did happen to come across a trailer for the game… enjoy!
